When to use this conversion
Convert JPG to PNG when you need a lossless copy for further editing, or a format that supports transparency. Useful before layering graphics, adding a transparent background in an editor, or when a tool requires PNG input.
Technical details
PNG is lossless, but converting from JPG cannot restore detail JPG already discarded — and the PNG will be noticeably larger (often several times) for photographic content. Pick PNG for graphics and editing; for sharing a photo, JPG or WebP stay smaller.
Frequently asked questions
Will the image look better as PNG?
No — PNG can't recover detail JPG already lost. It just stores the current pixels losslessly, which is useful for editing, not for improving quality.
Why is the PNG so much bigger?
PNG is lossless, so photographic content compresses far less than JPG's lossy compression. Expect a substantially larger file.
Do I need an account?
No. JPG→PNG is free and account-free; the file is deleted right after conversion.
